Artemisia vulgaris (common mugwort) is one of several species in the genus Artemisia, although Artemisia vulgaris is the species most often called mugwort. This species is also known as riverside wormwood. Mugwort is native to temperate Europe and is naturalized in North America. The plant grows on nitrogenous soils, like weedy and uncultivated areas, such as roadsides. Mugwort is used as a medicinal and culinary herb.
